Days after Verizon launched its 5G network, AT&T is making some 5G news of its own by expanding its 5G network.
AT&T's mobile 5G network is now live in parts of seven additional cities: Austin, Los Angeles, Nashville, Orlando, San Diego, San Francisco, and San Jose. This means that AT&T's 5G network is available in parts of 19 total U.S. cities, with the other 12 being Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas, Houston, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Louisville, Oklahoma City, New Orleans, Raleigh, San Antonio, and Waco.
When it comes to hardware that you can use to actually get on that 5G network, AT&T currently offers one device: the Netgear Nighthawk 5G Mobile Hotspot. AT&T has confirmed that it'll sell a the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G this spring. We know that Verizon will be getting that device first, with a launch likely happening on May 16th, so expect AT&T to launch the S10 5G sometime after that.
A second 5G Samsung smartphone will be available from AT&T later this year. This second device will support both mmWave and sub-6GHz spectrum, whereas the Galaxy S10 5G is limited to mmWave coverage.
