After starting life as a Google Pixel-exclusive feature, Google Duplex is now rolling out more broadly.
Google says that Duplex is available on Android devices running 5.0 Lollipop or newer and iPhones with the Google Assistant app installed. The folks at XDA-Developers found that Google Duplex is now working on their Galaxy S10, so if you've got a compatible phone, you may want to give Duplex a try.
Google Duplex lets you use the Google Assistant to make a restaurant reservation without you having to speak to anyone. Just say something like "Book a table for four at [restaurant name] tomorrow night" and the Google Assistant will call the restaurant on your behalf, book your reservation, and give you a notification and calendar invitation when the reservation is made.
Duplex is available in 43 U.S. states. The seven states where it's not currently supported include Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, and Texas. Google has explained that it's working to expand Duplex but that it wants to ensure that it "carefully respects local/state laws". There's no word yet on when Duplex might be available in those seven states.
