T-Mobile intros Phone BoothE, a modern phone booth that you can check out this weekend

T-Mobile has shown in the past that it likes to partake in April Fools' Day with jokes like the Sidekicks Smartshoephones and its Binge On Up wearable. Now T-Mo has revealed its latest April Fools' Day prank.

The T-Mobile Phone BoothE is a new soundproof booth that'll let you get away from the noise of the outside world and take a phone call in peace. These cubes include "next-gen soundproofing", says T-Mobile, along with a charger for your phone so you won't run out of juice.

Also included in Phone BoothE booths is Magenta Pages, a large vertical screen that connects to your phone and makes it easier to browse Instagram, check your favorite sites, and conduct a video call. The video screen can also help you take fun selfies by displaying cityscapes and landmarks that you can pose in front of.

Normally, only T-Mobile customers can access the Phone BoothE using a special app on Android and iOS. T-Mobile is letting anyone try the Phone BoothE this weekend, though, with booths available in New York City, Seattle, and Washington D.C. Here's where you'll find them:

NYC (all locations 9AM – 5PM)

  • Friday – Rockefeller Center North Plaza
  • Saturday – Bowling Green (South side)
  • Sunday – Battery Park (Near Town Green/Castle Clinton)
  • Monday – Rockefeller Center North Plaza

Seattle

  • T-Mobile Park at the T-Mobile 5G Experience (next to Henry’s Tavern) during Mariners games

Washington D.C.

  • Outside the Treasury Building (15th & G street) 9AM – 5PM

With this latest April Fools' Day prank, T-Mobile appears to be poking fun at AT&T and its 5G E network indicator that it's caught flak for lately. "You know it's real because we tacked an 'E' on the end of the name. Wow!" T-Mobile CEO John Legere says in the video for Phone BoothE. If you think the idea of the Phone BoothE actually sounds good, though, you will have a chance to check it out this weekend if you're in NYC, Seattle, or Washington D.C. If you do go see the Phone BoothE, be sure to report back and tell us about it!

Would you use the T-Mobile Phone BoothE if it were a real thing?
