Sprint Galaxy S8, S8+, and Note 8 getting Android Pie updates

Android Pie is making its way to some more former Samsung flagships.

Sprint is now updating its Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+, and Galaxy Note 8 to Android Pie. The updates began rolling out this week, and users on the Sprint Community forums and on Reddit have already been updated. The Android Pie update is a big one, with S8 owners getting a 1.6GB update and Note 8 users receiving a 1.7GB update, so be ready for that if you've got one of these devices.

The update to Android Pie brings with it Samsung's new One UI. This custom user interface brings a lot of improvements,  like a system dark mode and a focus on making the device more usable with one hand by pushing interactive elements toward the bottom of the screen and elements that you view up toward the top. This feature should be especially exciting for folks with the S8+ and Note 8, which have 6.2-inch and 6.3-inch screens, respectively.

If you've got a Galaxy S8, S8+, or Note 8 on Sprint, you can either wait for your Android Pie update to roll out to you or check manually for it in your Settings app.
