Interested in the RED Hydrogen One? Well, today we've got some good news and some not-so-good news for you.
First up, the RED Hydrogen One has been spotted in the FCC. This means that it's gotten certified for use in the U.S., and included with the listing are several photos of the upcoming smartphone. The images don't really reveal much new information about the RED Hydrogen One, but considering that we haven't gotten many clear looks at it to date, it's nice to see some more photos of the upcoming handset.
Now for the not-so-good news. The Hydrogen One may have suffered a setback, with RED founder Jim Jannard saying in the H4Vuser.net forums that the phone has been "pushed back in certification" and that "the carriers are allocating a new launch window." Jannard adds that he'll have more info soon but that it's "not likely to be pretty."
Last we heard, the RED Hydrogen One was slated to arrive sometime in August. AT&T and Verizon have also confirmed that they plan to sell the RED Hydrogen One, with AT&T planning for a summer release and Verizon aiming for a launch later this year. With this possible delay, though, it's unclear how those carrier release plans may be affected.
The Hydrogen One is a premium Android phone from RED, a company known for high-end camera equipment. It's got a 5.7-inch 2560x1440 holographic display that can show RED Hydrogen 4-View content, 3D content, and 2D/3D VR and AR content in addition to traditional 2D content. Its specs are expected to include a Snapdragon 835 processor, 4500mAh battery, dual SIM slots, a microSD card slot, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
RED previously took pre-orders for the Hydrogen One, with pricing starting at $1,295 for the aluminum version and going up to $1,595 for the titanium version.
