Nokia 3.1 now available for pre-orders, Nokia 5.1 earns FCC approval

Around a month ago, HMD Global unveiled three different Nokia devices with a mid-to-low price range. One of those devices, the Nokia 3.1, is now officially up for pre-orders with a price of $169.

The Nokia 3.1 comes as an updated version of the Nokia 3 and will be released as an Android One phone. This means that it will be equipped with a stock version of Android. It also promises fast software updates and regular security patches for this mid-priced smartphone.

As for its specs, the Nokia 3.1 comes with a 5.2-inch display with a 1440x720 resolution. It runs on a 1.5GHz MediaTek octa-core processor with 2GB of RAM and 16GB onboard storage with an option to expand it via a microSD card. The device has a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera, 8-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 2990mAh battery.

The Nokia 5.1 is another device worth checking out. Although this device is not yet available in the U.S., it was recently approved by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). With this approval, it shows that the Nokia 5.1 will soon be making its way to the U.S. The FCC approval shows that there might be a total of four variations of the Nokia 5.1 headed to the U.S. Among those models, two will be equipped with dual SIM card support and another two variants will have NFC. Each model also has a varying RAM and storage configuration, with either 2GB or 3GB of RAM and 16GB or 32GB storage. Each device, however, will be powered by a 2GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio P18 processor. They will also carry a 5.5-inch HD display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The camera on the back has a 16-megapixel sensor, while the front has an 8-megapixel sensor. A fingerprint scanner is available on each device, along with a charger port, headphone jack, and a microSD card slot for expandable storage.

If the reports hold true, the Nokia 5.1 could be up for an early release next month. It could be available with a starting price of $218 for the 2GB of RAM/16GB storage option and $252 for the 3GB of RAM/32GB storage option. Colors range from black, blue, or copper.

As for the third device, the Nokia 2.1, there is no recent update on this particular model and when it will be coming to the U.S.
