With the news that the Nexus Player will not be updated to Android P, some folks may be thinking about getting a new Android TV device soon. Luckily for them, it looks like Google may have one on the way.
A new Android TV dongle with a Google logo has appeared in the FCC. Included in the FCC are photos of the dongle itself as well as images of the user manual, which identify the device as the SN586AD and list its specs, including an Amlogic S905X chipset, 2GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, HDMI 2.0A video output, and 4K video support.
The user manual also includes images of the dongle's accompanying remote, which also has Google branding. There's a Google Assistant button on there, too, which the manual explains will let you quickly search for and launch content.
There are no mentions of Google in the FCC filing itself, as the device is described as a "4K ATV Stick" and the filing was made by Shenzhen SEI Robotics Co., Ltd. With the Google branding on both the dongle and remote, though, it's possible that the device will be offered by Google. Perhaps we'll learn more about this device at Google I/O next month.
