Pokémon Go adding research tasks and Mew

Mew is one of the most well-known Pokémon, and soon it's going to make its first appearance in Pokémon Go.

Developer Niantic announced today that Mew is coming to Pokémon Go as part of a new research feature. Later this week, players will begin receiving research tasks that'll be broken down into two activities: Field Research and Special Research.

Field Research tasks are collected by spinning PokéStops and have you doing things like catching certain Pokémon or engaging in battles. Special Research are story-driven tasks that come from Professor Willow and will have you making "important discoveries."

Both types of research will result in rewards like items and encounters with special Pokémon. When you complete at least one Field Research task per day, you can earn one stamp per day. Earning seven stamps will lead you to a Research Breakthrough that'll get you bigger rewards and maybe an encounter with a Legendary Pokémon.

Pokémon Go may not be quite as big as it once was, but there are still people playing the game and catching monsters, and so it's good to see Niantic continue to roll out special events and features.
