Support for HDR and Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 for Netflix isn't the only Razer Phone news coming out of CES today, because Razer has also teased a new laptop concept device for its phone.
Project Linda is a Razer laptop that's powered by the Razer Phone. Most laptops have a trackpad below their keyboard, but the Project Linda laptop has a cutout where you can place a Razer Phone. The smartphone then acts as the brains of the laptop and can be used as a touchpad or a second screen.
The Project Linda laptop features a 15mm-thick aluminum chassis with a 13.3-inch Quad HD touchscreen with 120Hz refresh rate and a 53.6Wh internal battery that can charge the Razer Phone up to three times. There's also 200GB of storage built into Project Linda as well as a USB-A port, a USB-C charging port, a 720p webcam, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a dual-array microphone.
If you're a Razer Phone owner that's furiously throwing money at your screen after reading those features, you'd better gather the cash back up and put it in your wallet. Project Linda is just a concept for now, and there's no word on when or if the device might actually come to market.
This certainly isn't the first time that we've seen a company try to make a laptop dock for their smartphone (Hi, Motorola), but Razer's Project Linda is an intriguing device. Razer has experience making computer hardware and the Razer Phone is a high-end device that could make Project Linda offer solid performance, and the fact that the phone can act as a trackpad or second screen makes Project Linda even more interesting. It probably wouldn't be cheap, but it'd still be cool to see Razer bring Project Linda to market.
