Motorola today introduced its latest Moto Mod that’s a bit different than the Mods that’ve come before it.
The Moto Smart Speaker with Amazon Alexa lets you speak to Amazon’s Alexa assistant on your Moto Z. You can use Alexa on the Moto Z to do things like control smart home accessories, request a ride, check the weather forecast, and more.
This new Mod includes four microphones to help ensure that Alexa hears your requests. Also included is a speaker as well as a battery so that using Alexa doesn’t drain the battery on your phone.
Motorola’s Moto Smart Speaker with Amazon Alexa will be available in November in markets where Alexa is available. Pricing will be set at $149.99.
This Moto Mod is kind of a strange addition because the Moto Z phones that it’s compatible with already have the Google Assistant. Some folks may just prefer Amazon Alexa, though, like if they’ve already got some Echo hardware in their home that they’re accustomed to using.
