Instagram adds face filters to Stories

Last month, Instagram beefed up its Stories feature with selfie stickers and geostickers. Now Instagram is adding another fun feature to its app.

Instagram now offers face filters. These include koala bear ears, a flower crown, nerd glasses, bunny ears, and more. There are eight face filters at launch, and you can find them by opening the camera in Instagram and tapping the face icon in the lower right corner.

Face filters are supported in photos and videos, and you can use them with Instagram Stories, Instagram Direct, and Boomerang.

This isn’t the first time that we’ve seen fun face filters in a disappearing message app, as Snapchat has offered similar filters for awhile now. Those filters have proven to be popular with Snapchat users, so it’s no surprise to see them appear in Instagram, which is also fighting for dominance in the disappearing messages game.

Also new to Instagram today is Rewind, a camera feature that’ll let you make videos that play in reverse, support for hashtags in Instagram Stories, and an eraser brush in the drawing tools.

These new features are now rolling out as part of Instagram version 10.21 for iPhone and Android.
