Amazon Echo Show official with 7-inch touchscreen and $229.99 price tag

As expected, Amazon today took the wraps off of its newest Echo device, the Echo Show.

The Amazon Echo Show features a 7-inch touchscreen that rests above dual 2-inch stereo speakers. There’s also a front-facing camera sitting above the touchscreen, and the device is powered by an Intel Atom x5-Z8350 processor.

Amazon touts that there are several ways for you to utilize the Echo Show’s 7-inch display. Video calls are supported, letting you chat with other Echo Show owners or the Alexa app, and you can also place regular calls to anyone with a supported echo device or the Alexa app.

The Echo Show can also show you videos, including clips from YouTube, CNN, and movie trailers. And you can use the Echo Show to control smart home products, including letting you see security cameras with its 7-inch display.

Amazon’s Echo Show has eight microphones, and it uses them along with beam-forming tech and noise cancellation so that it can hear you even if music is playing. Speaking of music, just like the regular Echo, the Echo Show supports music playback from sources like Amazon Music, Pandora, Spotify, iHeartRadio, and TuneIn.

The Amazon Echo Show is now available for pre-order for $229.99 in both black and white color options. Amazon is also running a special offer that’ll get you $100 off the price of two Echo Shows with the code SHOW2PACK. The Echo Show is expected to launch on June 28.

While some folks will likely have opinions about the design of the Echo Show, the product itself seems like a smart one from Amazon. With the proliferation of smartphones, many folks are used to interacting with a touch display, and adding a touchscreen to an Echo device gives it access to many more features and can make it faster for users to get the info that they want.

Now that it’s official, what do you think of the Echo Show? Are you thinking about buying one?
