Verizon today reported its Q1 2017 results, and the numbers for Verizon Wireless weren’t great.
Verizon Wireless says that it lost 309,000 postpaid connections in Q1 2017, including 289,000 phone losses. Things could’ve been worse for the big red carrier, though, as it says that it had lost 398,000 postpaid phones in mid-February, before the launch of its Verizon Unlimited plan. After the launch of that plan, Verizon added 109,000 postpaid phones.
In all, Verizon lost 324,000 connections in Q1 2017. That means that it finished Q1 2017 with 113.9 million connections in total.
Verizon Wireless also reports that its Q1 2017 total revenues finished at $20.9 billion, down 5.1 percent from Q1 2016.
So yeah, the first quarter of 2017 was kind of a rough one for Verizon. The launch of a new unlimited plan did wonders for the big red carrier, though, and it’ll be interesting to see what Verizon’s Q2 2017 numbers look like since that’ll give VZW a full quarter of offering an unlimited data plan.
