BlackBerry launches new Privacy Shade app for Android

After launching its new Notable app for Android last month, BlackBerry today revealed another new app for its Android users.

Privacy Shade is a new app that’ll let you browse your personal info, like email or text messages, without worrying about snoopers over your shoulder reading the messages, too. The app obscures the parts of your screen that you’re not actively viewing while still letting you interact with the parts that are obscured.

With Privacy Shade, you can adjust the transparency of the shade to fit the privacy that you’d like. Folks on Android 7.0 or higher can add the Privacy Shade to their Quick Settings for easy access, and anyone using a BlackBerry smartphone with a Convenience Key can assign the Privacy Shade to that Convenience Key. Android users can also toggle the Privacy Shade on or off using an optional alert in the notification shade.

If you’re reading sensitive information on your Android smartphone, or you often find yourself in situations where you’re in close proximity to other people, the Privacy Shade app could come in handy. If that sounds like you, then you can grab the Privacy Shade app from the Play Store right now
