Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus images and specs leak out

Moto is holding an MWC 2017 event on February 26, but the company’s big announcements may have been revealed early.

Online retailer Ktronix today posted product pages for the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus, complete with images and specs of the unannounced Android phones. While the two phones share a similar design language, complete with a “high-grade aluminum finish”, their spec lists are a bit different.

The Moto G5 is said to include a 5-inch 1920x1080 display, 5-megapixel camera, and fingerprint reader on its face, as well as a 13-megapixel camera with phase detection autofocus on its rear. Inside its body lives an octa-core Snapdragon 430 processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, a microSD slot, dual SIM slots, and a removable 2800mAh battery.

Moto’s G5 Plus will reportedly pack a 5.2-inch 1920x1080 screen, 12-megapixel rear camera with Dual Autofocus Pixels for quick focusing, 5-megapixel front camera, an octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor, 2GB of RAM, 64GB of built-in storage, a microSD slot, dual SIM slots, and a 3000mAh battery. Also expected to be included with the G5 Plus is NFC and a fingerprint reader.

Both the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus are listed with Android 7.0 Nougat.

Moto’s G line of phones has always focused on devices with entry-level to mid-range specs and affordable price tags. And while nothing is official until Moto says it is, today’s leak suggests that that trend will continue with the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus. While neither phone will blow you away with their specs, they should offer solid performance at prices that’ll be easy on your wallet. Plus, the aluminum finish could help give them a premium feel.

What do you think of the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus shown in today’s leak? If the info is accurate, will you check out one of these upcoming devices?
