Huawei Sends Out Invites for Honor V9 Unveiling Event

With Mobile World Congress set to happen just a few days from now, everyone's already excited to see what new devices manufacturers will be releasing this year. For Huawei, it's a no-brainer. Following the success of the recently launched Huawei Honor 6X, the company is set to release an affordable powerhouse of a device called the Huawei Honor V9.

Earlier today, Huawei released a teaser GIF on its Weibo account for the Honor V9's unveiling event. Even though the company won't be joining in MWC this year, they will be announcing the device in China on February 21st, a week before MWC 2017 officially starts. And since the device will be releasing in China, it could mean that the Honor V9 won't be available for international markets, at least not anytime soon.

The Honor V9 was also recently certified by the TENAA (China's own FTC regulation agency). In the listing, the specs of the device were revealed to the public. When the Honor V9 launches, it will be equipped with a 5.7-inch Quad HD display and will run on a 2.4GHz Octa-Core Kirin 960 processor with either 4 or 6GB of RAM. Online storage will also be a choice between 64 or 128GB with a microSD card slot for external memory expansion.

There will be a dual-camera setup on the back of the device with a 12-megapixel main sensor and a 2-megapixel camera that adds depth in photos. In front, the Honor V9 will have an 8-megapixel camera to take selfies. The TENAA listing also reveals a 3,900mAh battery will be included in the device along with a fingerprint scanner. Android 7.0 Nougat will be available on the device upon release.

There's not much information or pricing details available about the Honor V9 yet. But if the teaser is to prove anything, it could indicate that the Honor V9 will have waterproof capability. There are, however, no official sources to back up this theory so it could be just a design they picked for the teaser photo. We'll definitely know for sure once the device is officially unveiled on the said date.
