Specs for ZTE Hawkeye crowdsourced smartphone revealed, dual rear cameras included

Earlier this month, ZTE launched the Kickstarter campaign for the Hawkeye, its smartphone that was crafted using ideas from the company’s community of fans. Now ZTE has revealed the specs that the Hawkeye will have to offer.

The ZTE Hawkeye will run Android Nougat on a 5.5-inch 1920x1080 display and will feature 13-megapixel and 12-megapixel cameras with phase detection autofocus and optical zoom on its rear. There will also be an 8-megapixel camera on the Hawkeye’s face to fulfill your selfie needs.

At the heart of the Hawkeye will be an octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor paired with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of built-in storage, and a microSD card slot. Also included in the spec list is a fingerprint reader, dual SIM slots, NFC, USB Type-C, and a 3000mAh battery.

There are two other highlight features of the Hawkeye. The first is its eye-tracking capability, which will let you scroll through content hands-free. Then there’s the self-adhesive case that will let you stick the phone to a surface.

ZTE’s Hawkeye is now live on Kickstarter at a price of $199, and the device has an estimated delivery of September 2017. As of this writing, the project has raised $30,472 of its $500,000 goal and has 32 days left in its crowdfunding campaign.

While the Hawkeye doesn’t have flagship-tier specs, its feature set isn’t bad for a $199 device. Whether or not we’ll actually get to see how it performs will depend on it reaching its funding goal, which means that the project will need to gain another $470,000 or so by February 18.
