HTC Halfbeak smartwatch with Android Wear shown in leaked photos

UPDATE: The source of these HTC Halfbeak photos says that this particular model has been shelved.

HTC was named as an Android Wear partner when the platform was originally announced in March 2014, but we’ve yet to see any HTC smartwatch hit the market. That’s still the case today, but an HTC smartwatch has now unofficially appeared in some images.

Some photos that claim to show HTC’s Android Wear smartwatch have made their way online. Posted to Chinese social network Weibo, the photos show the front and back of an Android Wear smartwatch with branding from both HTC and Under Armour. We can also see “Halfbeak” in the device’s About screen, which has been rumored as this smartwatch’s codename.

Specs for the Halfbeak are light, but it’s been suggested that it would have a 360x360 display resolution. The leaked photos also show a rubberized band and some buttons on the side of the unit.

HTC has teamed up with Under Armour on previous products, including the UA Band wearable, UA Heart Rate, and UA Scale. Now it looks like HTC and UA will be working together on this Halfbeak smartwatch, too. Considering the UA branding and rubber strap, it looks like the Halfbeak could be an activity-focused device, but it could also serve as a more traditional smartwatch since it runs Android Wear.
