Sony reveals Xperia XZ and X Compact launch and price details for the US

Sony’s Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact are coming to the US.

Sony announced today that the Xperia XZ (shown above) will launch in the US on October 2 for $699. It’ll be sold unlocked by Amazon, Best Buy, and other retailers.

If you’d prefer the smaller Xperia X Compact (shown below), you’ll be able to get your hands on your new phone even sooner. The Xperia X Compact will launch in the US on September 25 at Amazon, Best Buy, and other retailers for $499.

The Xperia XZ is a new flagship device for Sony, boasting a 23-megapixel rear camera with “triple image sensing technology.” That includes the main image sensor with Predictive Hybrid AF for blur-free images, a Laser AF sensor to help in low-light, and an RGBC-IR sensor to adjust white balance.

Other Xperia XZ specs include a 5.2-inch 1920x1080 display, Snapdragon 820 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, a microSD slot, USB Type-C, fingerprint reader, and a 2900mAh battery. The Xperia XZ’s shell has glass on the front and metal on the back and is IP68 water and dust resistant.

Meanwhile, the Xperia X Compact has the same 23-megapixel rear camera as the XZ but a smaller 4.6-inch 1280x720 display. Also included in this shrunken Xperia is a hexa-core Snapdragon 650 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, a microSD slot, a fingerprint reader, and a 2700mAh battery that you charge using USB Type-C.

Both phones run Android 6.0.
