Samsung Galaxy Folder 2 leak gives us a peek an the upcoming Android flip phone

The clamshell form factor is pretty rare in the smartphone world, but there are one or two companies still churning out Android-powered flip phones. Now details on a new one from Samsung have leaked out.

The Samsung Galaxy Folder 2 has been revealed in leaked images. Shared over on Chinese social network Weibo, the photos show a flip phone with Android navigation buttons, Send and End keys, and a traditional keypad.

In terms of specs, the Galaxy Folder 2 is expected to feature a Snapdragon processor, 2GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, a microSD slot for adding more storage, and a 2,000mAh battery. The Folder 2 will also reportedly boast 8-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front cameras, and it’ll run Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow on a 3.8-inch touchscreen.

The Galaxy Folder 2 will reportedly cost around $250 when it launches. As for where it’ll be released, don’t be surprised if you never see this thing outside of China.

While most smartphones look like big slabs of glass, we do occasionally see something different pop up. There are some sliders here and there, and at least in China, there are also some Android flip phones. As I said before, it’s unlikely that we’ll see the Galaxy Folder 2 make its way to the U.S., but it is a neat device to stare at.
