Google Play Books for Android gains Bubble Zoom to make it easier to read comics

Read comics on your Android device? If so, an update to Google Play Books is going to make your day.

Google today announced Bubble Zoom, a new feature that’ll make it easier to read comings on Android. Using an object recognition technology, Google Play Books can now expand speech bubbles in comics one tap at a time, making them easier to read on your phone or tablet. Bubble Zoom is included with the latest version of the Google Play Books app and will support all Marvel and DC collected volumes out of the gate.

To celebrate Bubble Zoom’s launch, the Google Play Store is offering 50 percent off select Marvel and DC comics through July 24. To get the discount, you’ll just need to use the promo code SDCC2016.

Reading comics on mobile devices can be a pain, especially on a phone, as you’re scrolling around the page and zooming in and out. Bubble Zoom aims to take some of the pain out of reading comics on the go, so if you read comics on your Android phone or tablet, be sure to grab the latest version of the Google Play Books app.
