NuAns Neo is a unique Windows 10 Mobile phone that's now on Kickstarter

Windows phone users don’t have a ton of options for a new hardware nowadays, but a new device has hit Kickstarter with a unique look in tow.

The NuAns Neo is a Windows 10 Mobile smartphone with interchangeable covers. The Twotone rear cover comes in different colors and materials, and because each one is divided into top and bottom halves, you can mix and match the two to create a more personalized look. There’s some utility in the Twotone cover, too, as you can slip your credit cards in a slot behind the cover.

When it comes to raw specs, the NuAns Neo is a mid-range device that features a 5-inch 1280x720 display, 13-megapixel rear camera with a 28mm wide-angle lens, and a 5-megapixel front camera with a 24mm wide-angle lens. The Neo also touts an octa-core Snapdragon 617 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage that you can supplement with a microSD card, NFC, and a 3350mAh battery that you recharge using the Neo’s USB Type-C port. And when you need a screen larger than the Neo’s 5-incher, you can use Continuum to connect the phone to a monitor, keyboard, and mouse.

All of those features are stuffed into a shell that measures 11.3mm thick. That’s also noteworthy feature of the NuAns Neo, as many phones nowadays are aiming to be super thin. NuAns says that it chose this weight so that the Neo would be comfortable to hold.

The NuAns Neo is available at an early bird price of $270, which will get you a phone and a Twotone case or a Flip cover. That deal is limited to 1000 people, and after it runs out, 1000 more will be able to get that bundle for $325. The standard Kickstarter price is $380, down from the retail price of $399.99.

It may not be the most high-end Windows 10 Mobile phone on the market, but the NuAns Neo certainly is the most unique thanks to its Twotone swappable back covers. Just keep in mind that if you do decide to back the Neo, you’ll have to wait a bit before you’ll actually get one, as the phone isn’t expected to begin hitting backers’ doorsteps until November 2016.
