After making its official debut back in February, the newest high-end Ubuntu smartphone is now available for purchase.
The Meizu Pro 5 Ubuntu Edition can now be bought through JD.com at a price of $369.99 USD, €331.03 EUR, and ¥2390.14 CNY. The Pro 5 runs Ubuntu on a 5.7-inch 1920x1080 AMOLED display and offers a 21.16-megapixel rear camera with laser-assisted autofocus. There’s also a 5-megapixel front camera, dual SIM slots, a microSD slot.
Inside of the Pro 5 is 32GB of storage, 3GB of RAM, and an octa-core Exynos 7420 processor. Powering this whole package is a 3050mAh battery that you can charge over USB Type-C. Fast charging support is included, too.
The Meizo Pro 5 Ubuntu Edition beats its predecessor, the Meizu MX4, as the most high-end Ubuntu phone available. Ubuntu smartphones may not make up a huge part of the market, but at least there’s one manufacturer that’s pushing out premium Ubuntu handsets for the folks that like mobile Ubuntu.
