A few years ago, Twitter rolled out an access token limit that would prevent third-party Twitter apps from having more than 100,000 users. That limit has resulted in some popular Twitter apps getting pulled from virtual shelves, and now it looks like another app has fallen victim to the token limit.
Fenix, a popular Twitter app for Android, reached its 100,000 token limit over the weekend, which means that it can no longer accept new users. As a result, Fenix developer mvilla has pulled the app from Google Play to prevent new customers from buying an app that they can’t use.
If you’ve used Fenix in the past, you should be able to continue using it without issue. While it’s been pulled from Google Play for new customers, existing users can redownload it using the “My apps & games” section of Google Play.
Fenix is an attractive, well-made app and a nice alternative for Twitter users on Android that don’t care for the official app. It’s disappointing that mvilla won’t be able to continue to sell it and that new users won’t get the chance to try it, all because of Twitter’s user token limit.
