HTC testing Boost+ memory cleaner app in its Preview program

Remember that HTC Preview program that was announced last year? It just kicked off, and details on the first thing that’s being tested have leaked.

HTC Boost+ is a new app that Preview members are currently trying out. The app is meant to help you clean up your phone, including clearing your RAM, deleting cache files, and more. There’s a “Smart Boost” setting that you can use to have Boost+ automatically clear your memory in the background, and you can also turn on notifications so that the app will alert you when your “junk” is over a certain amount of storage or you go a set length of time without using an app.

One other feature of Boost+ is the ability to lock apps. You can make it so that you’ll need a fingerprint or pattern to unlock an app, and interestingly, it looks like Boost+ will occasionally show you ads when you’re accessing a locked app.

It’s kind of strange to see HTC testing a cleaner app like Boost+, as Android should be able to manage its memory and such on its own. Cleaner apps like this used to be a big deal, but we haven’t really heard anything about them in a while. Apparently HTC thinks that it needs one now, though. The Boost+ app does at least look nice, and its design seems like it’d fit right in with Sense.

It’s unclear when or if HTC will release Boost+ to the public, so for now we’ll just have to ogle at these leaked screenshots. You can find more at the link below.
