Facebook Live Video streaming makes its way to Android

One month after Facebook launched Live Video streaming to iPhone users in the US, it’s doing the same for Android.

In the next week, Facebook will start pushing Live Video support to Android users in the US, with additional countries gaining support soon. With Live Video, Android users can broadcast live video to their friends, and those friends can respond with comments. When the stream is over, it’ll be saved to your Timeline for everyone to watch later.

In addition to today’s Live Video rollout to Android users in the US, Facebook is expanding live video streaming to iOS users in 30 additional countries.

Periscope is one of the best-known live streaming video apps around today, letting anyone beam out video of whatever it is that they’re doing. That app is owned by Twitter, and so it makes sense that Facebook would want to offer its own live streaming video option to all consumers after initially making it available to public figures. Facebook says that more than 50 percent of the people watching live video streams on its service are using Android, and now those folks have the ability to stream their own live video, too.
