LG G5 design allegedly shown in leaked diagram

The rumor mill has suggested that the LG G5 will have some unique features, like a removable bottom that’ll hide the battery, and now a new leak claims to show a new design for the G5, too.

Some alleged LG G5 schematics have been shared by Android Authority and Shai Mizrachi, an Israeli journalist, TV presenter, and the source of a recent Galaxy S7 leak. The images show an LG G5 that looks quite a bit different than the G4 that came in 2015. That includes rounded corners rather than squared ones and a switch from LG’s well-known rear button setup to a more traditional layout with side-mounted volume buttons.

While the volume buttons appear to have been moved to the LG G5’s side, the fingerprint reader and volume button is still on the rear, beneath the camera. Speaking of the camera, this alleged G5’s rear camera appears to live inside of a large, oval housing.

Finally, today’s leak suggests that the LG G5 will be a bit thinner than the LG G4. The G4 measured 148.9 x 76.1 x 9.8mm,

A recent LG G5 leak suggested that the phone will include a removable bottom piece that, when taken off, will let you swap the phone’s battery. Unfortunately, today’s leak doesn’t show off that feature. The report does claim that the G5 will have a metal body.

LG has been pushing its rear button design pretty heavily in recent years, so it’d be kind of strange to see them switch away from it with the G5. That said, sometimes designs just change — like with Samsung and the Galaxy S6 — and today’s leak does suggest that LG is keeping the fingerprint reader and power key on the back of the G5, so LG may not totally abandon its rear button design. And if the rumors of the G5’s battery sliding out from the bottom of the phone come true, that could be enough for folks to forget about the volume button switch.

LG is hosting an event at MWC next month, and some say that the G5 could make its official debut there. What do you think of the G5 design that's allegedly leaked today?
