Apple Music for Android now available with 3-month free trial

After launching on iOS back in June, Apple Music is finally available on Android.

The Apple Music app for Android is now live in Google Play, offering access to the Apple Music catalog of more than 30 million tracks. The app offers For You playlist and album recommendations, a New page with new and hot tracks, Radio that includes Apple’s Beats1 radio station, and the Connect tab that lets musicians share photos and more with you.

The app looks a lot like the Apple Music app for iOS, save for one notable difference. While the iOS version of Apple Music has tabs at the bottom of the screen that let you jump between For You, Radio, and so on, the Android app has a slide-out menu that you can access by tapping the hamburger icon in the upper-left of the screen.

It’s also worth mentioning that Apple is still offering 3-month free trials for Apple Music, so you can download the app today and enjoy 3 months of free music streaming. Pricing for Apple Music is $9.99 per month for a single user or $14.99 for a family account that grants unlimited Apple Music access to up to 6 users.

Apple is currently calling this Apple Music app for Android a beta, explaining that there’s no support for music videos right now, but that they’re “coming soon.” Additionally, sign-ups and upgrades to a family membership require a Mac or iOS device. Finally, Apple says that the sign-up process needs to be optimized for Android.

Apple Music looks like a perfectly fine Android app, utilizing a slide-out menu like many other Android apps rather than a bottom navigation tab like on iOS. The app seems to work well enough (save for one apparent bug that prevents the mini-player from dismissing when a song is done playing), too. And if you’ve already got some music saved with iTunes in the Cloud or iTunes Match, your tunes will be waiting for you when you load up Apple Music for Android. It might feel kind of strange to be using an Apple app on an Android device, but hey, Apple certainly needs an Android version of Apple Music if it wants to give its music streaming service a chance at success.

You can grab Apple Music for Android right here. The app requires Android 4.3 or higher.
