New BlackBerry Priv hands-on video surfaces along with full spec list

The BlackBerry Priv may be official, but BlackBerry hasn’t yet announced any sort of release date other the “late 2015,” so it’s unclear when we’ll actually be able to get our hands on the Priv and its physical keyboard. That’s why we’re still interested in hands-on photos and videos that keep popping up.

Today UK retailer Carphone Warehouse posted a brief hands-on video with the BlackBerry Priv that shows off the Android slider’s hardware. We get a view of all of the Priv’s sides, its dual curved edge display, and we see its sliding mechanism in action.

Carphone Warehouse also has a product page up for the BlackBerry Priv, complete with a full list of specs. The BlackBerry Priv has a 5.4-inch 2560x1440 AMOLED display with dual curved edges, a 1.8GHz hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, a microSD slot, and a 3410mAh battery. It’s also got an 18-megapixel Schneider-Kreuznach-ceritifed rear camera with dual LED flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. Preloaded on the Priv is Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. As for its dimensions, the Priv measures 147.0 (184.0 opened) x 77.2 x 9.4mm.

While not all of the Priv’s specs are the most high-end around, this BlackBerry device still has a pretty respectable feature set that ought to handle most anything you throw at it. The Priv has the makings of a device that’ll do well for BlackBerry — good specs, Android, a large touchscreen, and a physical keyboard — and it’ll be even better if BlackBerry can get the device on all major carriers. Now we just have to wait and see if the Priv can turn around BlackBerry’s less than stellar performance in recent quarters.

Do you think that the BlackBerry Priv will be a big seller?
