Windows 10 Mobile to begin rolling out to existing devices in December

Today Microsoft revealed its new flagship smartphones, the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL, both of which will come preloaded with Windows 10 Mobile when they launch in November. But when will existing Windows phones get updated to Windows 10 Mobile? We may finally know.

The official Microsoft Lumia page on Facebook says that Windows 10 Mobile will begin rolling out in December. The news came in response to a question about when Windows 10 will be available to devices like the Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL. Here’s the full response from the verified Microsoft Lumia page:

“Microsoft Lumia Hi, Subhadeep. Windows 10 is available on PCs and tablets now, and while Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL ship with Windows 10 for phones, broad availability of Windows 10 on other devices, including mobile phones, will begin rolling out in December. This is the first time that we’ve gotten any word on when Microsoft will begin pushing Windows 10 Mobile to the public. As with any software updates, the exact timing will vary by device and could take a bit longer with carrier-branded models. Still, it’s nice to finally have an idea on when the update will begin its rollout. If you’d rather not wait until December, you can enroll in the Windows Insider program to get preview builds right now.
