HTC may show new hardware at September 29 event

Yesterday HTC introduced a new handset just like we were expecting, but it wasn’t quite the flagship One that folks were hoping for. The company actually showed the Desire 728, which has a 5.5-inch HD display, octa-core processor, 2GB of RAM, and 13-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front cameras. That’s not a bad phone, but it’s not the high-end model that folks were hoping for. The good news for folks anxiously awaiting HTC’s next big phone might see it later this month.

HTC is sending invitations to an event on in Japan on September 29. The tagline for the event reads “The World Best Meets The Best” and also apparently alludes to “double flagship,” all while including an image of two mountains.

HTC doesn’t specifically mention any new hardware that it’ll be showing at this event, but the invite has people guessing that we could at least see the HTC One A9 “Aero” at the gathering. Details on the One A9 are fairly light, but last month, some leaked images claimed to show the device ahead of its official debut.

If you’re in the market for a new phone, are you holding off on making a purchase until HTC shows its One A9? Or have you already set your sights on another device?
