YouTube Gaming launches, Android app now available [UPDATED]

UPDATE: The YouTube Gaming app for iOS is now available, too. You can get it from the App Store right here.

Just as expected, YouTube Gaming is now going live.

While Google hasn’t yet made an official announcement about YouTube Gaming’s launch, the official YouTube Gaming app is now available for download from Google Play. An iOS app will also be available, but it’s not appearing in the App Store as of this writing. The web page isn’t yet active, either.

As its name suggests, YouTube Gaming is focused on video game content. Google touts that YouTube Gaming includes videos from more than 25,000 games, and you can also watch 60fps livestreams of games, view categories like Let’s Plays and eSports, and get new video alerts for games and channels that you like.

The YouTube Gaming app for Android looks nice. It’s a bit reminiscent of the main YouTube app for Android, offering a search box and three main sections when you launch it. With YouTube Gaming, you get a main feed, a list of channels that you follow (the app will import gaming-focused channels that you’ve already subscribed to on YouTube), and a list of games that you can follow.

Starting a livestream will take you to the video itself as well as a live chat that you can participate in. You can also view details on the video, including links to the game and the player, and suggested videos that YouTube Gaming thinks that you might like.

To try YouTube Gaming for yourself, grab the app using the Google Play link below.
