iOS 9 includes Continuity improvements for T-Mobile customers

With the arrival of iOS 8, iPhone’s running on T-Mobile were able to use Wi-Fi Calling, a feature that other mobile users have been enjoying for some time. However, Wi-Fi Calling didn’t work with Continuity, another new iOS 8 feature that allows you to use your Mac or iPad to take phone calls and texts that are sent to your iPhone. That’s changing with iOS 9.

It’s been discovered that iOS 9 now allows T-Mobile customers to use their Mac or iPad to accept Wi-Fi Calling calls made to their iPhone. T-Mo also explained to me that Continuity now works on T-Mobile’s cellular network, meaning that you can receive your texts and calls on your Mac or iPad, even if you left your iPhone at home. The magenta carrier touts that as of now, it’s the only carrier to offer this feature, but I'd be willing to bet that other operators will add support for the feature in the future.

Obviously you’re going to need iOS 9 to try these T-Mobile-related features out for yourself, and unfortunately, iOS 9 is currently only available to developers that paid Apple $99 to be in their dev program. However, Apple will be running a public beta of iOS 9 in July, so it won’t be long before more of us get to try these new Continuity features. iOS 9 is expected to launch to the public this fall.
