Good news, Nexus 9 owners! Your Android 5.1 update is finally here!
Google just tweeted from the official @GoogleNexus Twitter account that the Nexus 9’s Android 5.1 update will start rolling out today, May 7. As with most over the air updates, this one will likely go out in phases, so don’t fret if Nexus 9’s Android 5.1 update doesn’t appear when you finish reading this sentence.
At this point, the Nexus 9 is the only Nexus device that hasn't yet been updated to Android 5.1, and so owners of the device have been getting a bit frustrated that they're on Android 5.0.2 while their Nexus brethren are on a newer version of Google's mobile OS. And while Android 5.1 isn't necessarily a huge jump from Android 5.0, many folks buy Nexus devices to get speedy Android updates. Thankfully the whole N9 update ordeal is coming to an end — for now, at least — with the arrival of this Android 5.1 update for the Nexus 9.
