After leaking a couple of times earlier this year, the selfie-centric Sony Xperia C4 is now official.
As you probably guessed by looking at the Xperia C4’s face, one of the main features of Sony’s latest Android smartphone is its front camera. The 5-megapixel camera has a 25mm wide-angle lens, LED flash, and HDR, all of which will work together to capture some quality selfies — or “PROselfies,” as Sony calls them — in any environment. The Xperia C4’s also got a 13-megapixel rear camera with its own flash and HDR support.
Also included with the Xperia C4 is a 5.5-inch 1920x1080 IPS display with Sony’s Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 and a super vivid mode. Powering the Xperia C4 is a combination of a 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek MTK6752 processor, 2GB of RAM, and a 2600mAh battery. Sony has included 16GB of storage and a microSD slot with the Xperia C4 as well, allowing you to utilize up to a 128GB memory card for all of those selfies that you’ll be taking.
The Xperia C4 will be available in both single SIM and dual SIM variants, with white, black, and mint color options. It’ll launch with Android 5.0 in “select markets” starting in June.
While the Xperia C4 isn’t quite as high-end a device as the Xperia Z4, it’s still got a pretty respectable feature set that includes a large 5.5-inch screen for the phablet fans out there as well as an OmniBalance design like the one found on the Xperia Z3/Z4. Sony isn’t talking pricing for the C4 quite yet, but it should be a bit cheaper than the company’s current flagship, so folks interested in a more affordable version of the Z3/Z4 may want to keep an eye on the C4.
