Android 5.1 update info for the Moto X (2nd Gen.) released

So far, we’ve only seen select Nexus devices get updated to Android 5.1. That could change soon, though, because Motorola appears to be getting the update ready for the Moto X (2nd Gen.).

A Motorola support page for the XT1095 version of the Moto X (2nd Gen.), which is the Pure Edition, has revealed Motorola’s changelog for the device’s Android 5.1 update. There are quite a few goodies packed inside the update, like usability improvements to notifications and interruptions, a reduction of noise in low-light camera shots, and a ton of bug fixes. Also included are Android 5.1-specific features like Device Protection and the ability to select Wi-Fi hotspots or Bluetooth devices from within the Quick Settings menu.

Motorola hasn’t made any announcements about when it’ll actually begin pushing Android 5.1 to all of the Moto X Pure Edition owners. Now that the release notes for the update are live, though, it’s possible that the update is getting closer, and it could be undergoing testing. Motorola has been pretty on the ball in the past when it comes to getting new Android updates out in a timely manner, so it’s no surprise to see that the company is getting Android 5.1 ready for the Moto X Pure Edition, but it’s exciting nonetheless.

While we wait for the rollout to begin, you can read the Moto X Pure Edition’s full Android 5.1 changelog at the link below.
