Sony Xperia E4g is a low-cost Android phone with 4G LTE and a rounded body

Earlier this month, Sony introduced the affordable Xperia E4 that offers features like a 5-inch display, 2300mAh battery, and a rounded design. One feature that didn’t make the cut was 4G LTE connectivity, but now Sony has taken care of that with a new version of its entry-level Xperia.

The Xperia E4g is fairly similar to the Xperia E4, sporting the same rounded design and stainless steel camera ring. But while they look the same on the outside, there’s one big difference between them that is notable: the E4g has 4G LTE connectivity, while the only supports HSPA+. In addition to gaining LTE, the Xperia E4g also got its processor clocked slightly higher than the E4, with the former being a 1.5GHz quad-core CPU and the latter getting a 1.3GHz chip.

Other features of the Xperia E4g include a 2300mAh battery that can provide up to two days of battery life, NFC, a scratch-resistant 5-inch 960x540 screen, 5-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front cameras, 8GB of storage, a microSD slot, 1GB of RAM, and black and white color options. The E4g will be available in single SIM and dual SIM versions.

Sony says that the Xperia E4g will launch in April for €129 ($146 USD). The company tells us that it’s got no plans to release the E4g in the U.S., but for smartphone shoppers in other markets, the Xperia E4g’s combination of 4G LTE, a beefy battery, and a rounded body could make it worth a look for consumers that want an affordable device.
