If you own a Nokia Lumia 822 or Lumia 928 on Verizon, then your big red carrier is about to make your weekend awesome.
Verizon has taken to its support pages for the Lumia 822 and Lumia 928 to reveal that it will be pushing Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1, complete with Lumia Denim, to both devices today. The updates include Cortana, Windows Phone’s digital assistant, the ability to select a background image for your Start screen, support for two or three columns of Live Tiles, the Word Flow keyboard, Action Center notification panel, updates to the Nokia Camera app, and a whole lot more.
These are huge updates for the Lumia 822 and Lumia 928, complete with a bump to Windows Phone 8.1 and Lumia Denim. The two Verizon Lumias will feel like whole new phones after installing the update, and users have a lot to get excited about here. In order to check for this update, head into Settings > Phone Update.
As for you Lumia Icon owners, well, you’ve still got a bit of a wait ahead of you. Microsoft says that the Lumia Icon is slated to get its Lumia Denim update in early 2015.
UPDATE: Microsoft says that Verizon plans to update the HTC Windows Phone 8X and Samsung ATIV SE to Windows Phone 8.1 “very soon."
