It’s finally happened, HTC One (M8) Google Play edition owners! Your Lollipop update is finally ready to roll!
Mo Versi, VP of Product Management at HTC, announced tonight that the Android 5.0 update for the One (M8) Google Play edition has been approved by Google. The update is slated to begin rolling out at noon (likely PST, since that’s the time zone that Versi is located in) on December 5. Yeah, that’s tomorrow.
The HTC One Google Play edition devices were originally slated to get Lollipop in mid-November, but the updates ended up hitting a couple snags, and Google wanted HTC to put together a new version of the update. Interestingly, Versi specifically called out the One (M8) in his tweet. The status of the One (M7) GPe’s update is still unclear, but I imagine that it won’t be too far behind the (M8)’s.
