Jawbone UP3, UP MOVE activity trackers now official

Jawbone is a big player in the wearables world, with its UP activity trackers proving to be popular with consumers. Now folks that want to keep track of their activities have a couple of new Jawbone-made devices for that purpose.

Jawbone today introduced the UP3 and UP MOVE fitness trackers. The Jawbone UP3 is the new flagship model, sporting a new design and a whole mess of sensors that includes Bluetooth 4.0 BTLE, a tri-axis accelerometer, heart rate, respiration, Galvanic Skin Response, skin temperature and ambient temperature. The UP3 also includes three LEDs that indicate what’s going on: blue for sleep, orange for activity and white for notifications.

When it comes to actually tracking your activity, the UP3 can keep detailed progress of your sleeping patterns, identify and classify your workouts and a Smart Coach feature that, when paired with Jawbone’s UP App, will give you guidance to help you reach your fitness goals.

The UP3 is made of TPU, anodized aluminum and TiN-coated stainless steel. It’s water resistant up to 10 meters and has a 38mAh battery that charges over USB in 100 minutes and will last up to 7 days on a single charger.

Jawbone says that the UP3 will go one sale “later this year” on its own website and in Apple and Best Buy stores. Pricing will be set at $179.99 for the Black Twist model, with other colors slated to launch in 2015.

The UP MOVE is Jawbone’s second new activity tracker. It’s more of an entry-level device, sporting a price tag of just $49.99, but it can still track your fitness. You can clip the UP MOVE onto your clothing or wear it on your wrist in order to count your steps, track your sleep and use the same Smart Coach feature of its UP3 sibling.

Jawbone’s UP MOVE is made of TPU rubber, anodized aluminum and a nylon-like material. It’s splash resistant but can’t be submerged in water. Its non-rechargeable 225mAh coin battery is rated to last up to 6 months. The UP MOVE also has a tri-axis accelerometer, Bluetooth 4.0 BLE, 12 white LEDs, 1 orange LED and 1 blue LED for showing you motor time, charge status and more.

Will you be picking up either of Jawbone’s near activity trackers?
