Heads up, folks, because Google is now sending out invitations to try out Inbox.
Google announced Inbox yesterday as a new way to handle your email. The app will bundle together emails that are similar to one another, like Promos for various services, and it’ll also highlight important information that’s located inside of your messages, such as your flight info. Highlights will also include details about your info that’s pulled from the web, like a package tracking number.
The final big feature of Inbox is actually three smaller things that are meant to help you get things done. Reminders are exactly that: reminders to do things at a later time. Assists will provide information related to a task that you’ve set, like the phone number for a business that you want to call, and Snooze will hide an email until a specified time so that you can focus on what you’re doing at that moment.
Inbox is currently invite-only, and Google said yesterday that if you wanted to check out Inbox, you could request an invitation. Those invitations are now going out, as I received one a few minutes ago.
The Inbox app looks pretty nice, especially compared to the Gmail app for iOS. While the latter is mostly just grays and whites, the former is much more colorful and fun to use, and it also falls in line with Android 5.0’s Material Design standard. The Inbox web app is similarly attractive.
