Earlier this month, Samsung did just what we expected that it would and unveiled the next member of its Galaxy Note family, the Galaxy Note 4. Samsung also surprised us a bit, though, with the debut of the Galaxy Note Edge, which features a curved display that can show additional info on its side. We know that the the Edge will be somewhat limited as Samsung has said that it’ll be available in “select markets,” but it turns out that the Edge could be even more scarce than we originally thought.
Speaking to ZDNet Korea, Samsung Electronics president DJ Lee described the Galaxy Note Edge as a “limited concept,” implying that it’ll be limited in its availability rather than being a mass produced product like its Galaxy Note 4 sibling.
While the Galaxy Note Edge includes many specs that are similar to the Galaxy Note 4, including a 2560x1440 display, 16-megapixel camera and 2.7GHz quad-core processor, the big difference between the two is the curved display on the Edge’s side. That display likely isn’t easy to produce right now, and it’s unclear if that feature is one that’s actually going to catch on with consumers. As a result, it makes sense that the Edge will be a “limited concept.”
Even though the Galaxy Note Edge is a "limited concept" device, many US wireless fans will have the chance to pick one up since all four major US carriers have committed to offering it. Do you plan on picking up a Galaxy Note Edge?
