When NVIDIA originally announced its new Shield Tablet back in July, it teased that a 4G LTE-enabled model with 32GB of on-board storage was in the works in addition to the Wi-Fi-only 16GB model. Fast-forward nearly 3 months and the more capacious LTE model is now available for preorder.
The NVIDIA Shield Tablet with 4G LTE connectivity is priced at $399, which is $100 more than the Wi-Fi-only model. The 4G version comes equipped with 32GB of storage and connects to AT&T’s LTE network. The LTE Shield Tablet will begin shipping on September 30.
Additionally, AT&T customers will receive a $100 bill credit when they buy an LTE Shield Tablet and hook it up with an AT&T plan under a 2-year commitment. That includes the Mobile Share Value plan, which can accommodate a tablet for as little as $10 per month.
Outside of the cellular support and expanded storage, the LTE model of the Shield Tablet is similar to the Wi-Fi model, which means that it’s got the following specs:
- 8-inch 1920x1200 display
- 2.2GHz quad-core Tegra K1 processor
- 5-megapixel front and rear cameras
- 2GB of RAM
- 16GB or 32GB of storage
- DirectStylus 2 pen
- Console Mode for hooking the tablet up to a TV
- Shield wireless controller support
- Front-facing speakers
- Android 4.4 KitKat
- Google Play support
