Buying things from the iPhone is possible right now, thanks to several different options, but Apple has yet to jump into the market itself just yet. That's reportedly changing with the upcoming introduction of the iPhone 6, though, as reports continue to file in that suggest Apple is gearing up to launch its own mobile payments system.
At the end of August, it was reported that Apple had partnered with American Express to help build the mobile payments system, with the report being updated to include Visa and MasterCard as well. But, just pairing up with card companies isn't enough, as Apple is also looking at wrangling in physical retail shops to help expand the system. A new report from Bank Innovation suggests that Apple is in talks with Nordstrom right now to include the fashion retail giant.
The report outlines that point-of-sale hardwrae has already been shipped to some stores, and that the units (which are the same as some units currently available in Apple Retail locations) recently received a software update to prepare for the iPhone 6's launch. Apple is also reportedly still reaching out to physical retail companies in an effort to provide more support for the NFC-based mobile payments system when it launches later this year.
The iPhone 6 is scheduled to be unveiled on September 9.
