The new Samsung Galaxy Alpha got a lot of attention when it was announced earlier this month thanks to its metal frame, a feature that’s very different from most other Samsung products that have all-plastic bodies. Now it’s been revealed that Samsung may have even more metal-clad handsets in the works.
A new report claims that Samsung is planning a new “A” series of smartphones that will initially include three devices. The SM-A300, SM-A500 and SM-A700 are said to feature designs similar to the Galaxy Alpha, complete with at least some metal on their bodies.
The three devices are expected to span multiple price points, with the SM-A300 likely an entry-level model with a 960x540 display. The SM-A500 and SM-A700 may include HD 1280x720 displays. All three phones are also said to offer high-quality front-facing cameras.
The three new “A” series phones will reportedly debut sometime during Q3 2014, meaning we should see them within the next month. Samsung has received flak in the past for its heavy use of plastic on its mobile hardware, so it’s nice to hear that we may start to see more Sammy hardware with premium materials.
