BBM for Windows Phone shown off, beta test starting soon

Get excited, Windows Phone users! After announcing back in February that BBM would be coming to Windows Phone, BlackBerry today revealed that the app's beta test is nearly ready to begin.

The first version of BBM for Windows Phone will be focused on helping users to share with others. That means that BBM-ers will be able to use regular Chat, participate in Groups of up to 50 users, share photos and location and more.

BlackBerry also says that BBM for Windows Phone will feature a native Windows Phone UI, unlike versions of BBM on other platforms that feature a BlackBerry 10 design. BBM for Windows Phone will include three main sections: Contacts, Chats and Feeds.

In order to get BBM for Windows Phone ready for the public, BlackBerry will be running an external beta soon. Anyone interested in participating should be ready to report bugs and provide other feedback. If that sounds like you, you can apply to the beta test in the BlackBerry BetaZone.

Android and iOS users have been using BBM for some time, so it's good to see that BlackBerry is finally nearly ready to give Windows Phone users the same app. Those WP folk may even be getting a slightly better app, as their's will feature a native Windows Phone UI that'll help it feel more like a legit Windows Phone app.

Are you planning to apply to the BBM for Windows Phone beta?
