T-Mobile provides update on latest Un-carrier moves

T-Mobile made two big Un-carrier moves earlier this week: the first was the debut of its free iPhone 5s Test Drive program, and the second was its Music Freedom offering that will allow customers to stream music without it counting against their data allotment. Today T-Mobile CEO John Legere gave us an update on how consumers are reacting to them both.

First up, Legere says that more than 12,000 people have signed up for an iPhone 5s Test Drive. The program gives folks an iPhone 5s with unlimited T-Mobile usage to try for one week. If they don’t like it when that 7-day trial is up, they can return it free of charge.

Legere also revealed the current standings in T-Mobile’s Music Freedom poll. The current Music Freedom program only allows for free streaming from select services, so T-Mobile is allowing customers to vote for the service that they’d most like to see added to Music Freedom. Legere says that after more than 75,000 votes, Google Play Music All Access and Xbox Music are fighting for the lead.

While Music Freedom includes major music streaming services like Spotify, Pandora and Slacker, it’s also missing biggies like Rdio, Google Play All Access Music and Xbox Music. It’s good to see T-Mo asking the consumers which service they’d like to see added, though, and right now it’s looking like Google and Microsoft’s offerings could be next.
