Apple's acquisition of Beats seemingly gains support from Tyrese and Dr. Dre video

Well, it looks like that rumor about Apple acquiring Beats Electronics for $3.2 billion may have just gotten a bit more legit.

Just hours after a report claimed that Apple is close to buying Dr. Dre’s Beats Electronics, actor Tyrese Gibson uploaded a photo and video to his official Facebook page that seems to gives support to the rumor. The caption to the video reads:

“How did I end up in the studio with Dr Dre ON THE night his deal went public that he did with Apple 3.2 BILLION!!!! The BEATS HEADPHONES JUST CHANGED HIP HOP!!!!!”

Additionally, the clip includes Tyrese saying that “they need to update the Forbes list” and Dr. Dre seemingly declaring himself “the first billionaire in hip-hop.” The video has since been pulled, but a copy has since been uploaded to YouTube. You can find that clip below. Just be warned that it contains strong language and is very much NSFW.

While still not quite officially official, this clip certainly appears to give credence to the rumor that Apple is dropping a cool $3.2 billion on Beats. Such a move could quickly get Apple involved in the streaming music space and help it to better compete against rivals like Rdio and Spotify.

Apple’s acquisition of Beats could be announced as early as next week, so stay tuned and hopefully we’ll get something a bit more official than a Facebook video from Tyrese.
