Verizon Galaxy S 4 now being treated to Android 4.4.2 KitKat update [UPDATED]

Verizon Galaxy S 4 owners, it looks like you’re getting a pretty nice treat to help end your work week.

Several owners of Verizon’s Samsung Galaxy S 4 are now reporting that the device’s Android 4.4.2 update is now rolling out over the air. The update bumps the Verizon S 4 up to software version VRUFCN5. Neither Samsung nor Verizon have posted a changelog for the update yet, but because the S 4 is getting bumped up to KitKat, we know that it’ll at least be getting white status bar icons as part of the upgrade.

The AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and U.S. Cellular Galaxy S 4 variants all got updated to Android 4.4.2 in February or March, so it’s nice to see that the Verizon model is finally getting its own taste of KitKat. I’ll be sure to update you once a changelog for the update officially goes live. Until then, if you’ve got a Verizon-branded Galaxy S 4 and haven’t yet gotten an update notification, you can head into Settings > More > About device > Software update to check for it manually.

Be sure to give us a shout in the comments below once the update hits your device!

Thanks, Jason!
