A week after introducing us to the Lumia 930, Lumia 630 and Lumia 635, Nokia today announced something a bit more basic.
The Nokia 225 and Nokia 225 Dual SIM are now officially official, becoming the latest members of Nokia’s “Internet phone” — aka feature phone — family. Nokia says that the 225 is its thinnest Internet phone to date, boasting a body that measures 10.4mm thick. The 225 also features a keypad that resists dust and splashes.
When it comes to straight-up specs, the Nokia 225 is packing a 2.8-inch 320x240 display on its face and a 2-megapixel camera on its backside. Buried inside that body is a microSD card slot, FM radio support, and 900/1800MHz connectivity. The 225 is powered by a 1200mAh battery that Nokia says will last for 36 days of standby on the single SIM model and 27 days on the dual SIM unit.
This Series 30+ handset will be available in black, white, green, red and yellow hues and will begin rolling out to “select markets” in the second quarter. Pricing for the Nokia 225 is set at €39 ($54 USD).
Obviously the Nokia 225 is a pretty basic handset, but at a retail price of just €39, it’s an option worth considering for anyone in the market for something simpler than a smartphone. The 225’s dust and splash-resistant keypad will help it to stand up to the abuse that daily use can bring, and the inclusion of features like FM radio, a microSD slot and several preloaded games are nice touches.
